i just checked the airfare prices for RT flights from LAX to TO for 9/1 to 9/5.. crazy $$$ (between $450-1000+!!). so was thinking of another option for those who are cost-conscious or who have time to do some sightseeing before the tourney. the closest US city to TO is probably buffalo, ny (which is about a 2 hours drive to TO) — so maybe folks who have some time to fly in a bit earlier can do that and share the costs of a van rental and just drive up? =)
AND DON’T FORGET TO UPDATE OR GET A PASSPORT!! =)
great idea folks - definitely check out buffalo or even Rochester’s airport if Buffalo is out of the question. If you guys do decide to do this, try and organize a group or something. I believe Yvonne and I are driving from NYC to TO which can take the better portion of a day so anyone that wants to go to NYC also could probably join us. Let me or Yvonne know.
If you’re curious about driving times:
NYC -> Rochester = 6 hours or so
Rochester -> Buffalo = 2 hours
Buffalo -> Toronto = 2 hours
also - don’t forget that Niagara Falls is along the way from Buffalo to TO. Great chance to do a little sight seeing too!
RT airfare to buffalo, ny is about $280-400 on orbitz btw…
